EyeCare America is a public service program of the Foundation of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. The Seniors EyeCare Porgram operates through a pool of 7,000 volunteer ophthalmologists nationwide. It provides a comprehensive medical eye exam and care for anything diagnosed at the initial visit for up to one year at no out-of-pocket cost for the physician's services. Medicare and other insurance will be billed and accepted as payment in full waiving co-pays and unmet deductibles. Uninsured will be seen at no cost. Eligibility: 65 or older, U.S. citizens or legal residents who have not seen an ophthalmologist (an Eye MD) in the last 3 or more years and who do not belong to an HMO or receive eye care benefits through the VA.
